What to expect?

We are a small retail shop located right on the Burke-Gilman Trail along the canal and just a few steps west from the main bustle of Fremont. We plan all kinds of pop-ups, collaborations and tastings year-round AND have bottles open to try daily [sorry kids, the whole shop is 21+ all day, every day]. Come play with us, watch the boats float by on the canal, chat, grab a bottle and see where the day takes you.

What is natural wine?

There isn’t a straight-forward answer to this question, primarily because natural wine isn’t a certification or designation, it’s more like a guiding philosophy. A term used to differentiate between producers who practice clean farming, use low-intervention techniques and no chemicals vs. more heavily manipulated, conventional ones. Basically, natural wines are made the same way they’ve been made for hundreds, if not thousands, of years - before we industrialized the hell out of everything. You know, traditional and honest. On our shelves, you will always find tasty bottles that are made with organic or biodynamic fruit, native yeasts and low-intervention techniques.

A note from our buyer

My wine philosophy is much like my food philosophy: let Mother Nature do her thing and celebrate what she gives you; don’t be greedy and don’t foul it with a bunch of extra crap and manipulation. That’s my natural wine.

I was lucky to grow up in Portland and witness the heyday of the chef-driven restaurant era there. Then be in LA when the natural wine ‘wave’ really hit, it was exhilarating. I was welcomed into the community by winemakers, distributors and importers alike, I was generously showered with friendship, information and delicious wine. It was clear that these were my people - this was my wine.

I am not a Sommelier. I’m simply on a journey to absorb and share as much knowledge (and wine!) as I can in the hopes that others will appreciate it as much I do - for all of it’s uniqueness, for the way it brings people together, for the hard work and faith that goes into each bottle, for the sake of living well with our arms wide open.
